Serandia Journeys designs private Sri Lanka journeys for four different kinds of traveller – those who want culinary depth and design culture, those who want ancient kingdoms and boutique luxury, and those who want private villas and a quiet coast. Every itinerary is built around the people taking it, not assembled from a catalogue of standard stops.
Sri Lanka is not one thing. It is a Pettah Market at 6am and a leopard at first light. A colonial tea bungalow in the highlands and a Galle Fort courtyard at dusk. An ancient dagoba above a dry-zone reservoir and a cinnamon estate on the southern coast. We design private journeys that bring all of it together – for four different kinds of traveller, with the same care applied to each.
Private Sri Lanka journeys – culinary and design trails, heritage circuits, wildlife safaris, highland railways, colonial tea country, honeymoon escapes, family adventures and the complete island arc. Every itinerary is designed around the people taking it, not assembled from a catalogue of standard stops.
Serandia Journeys is run by a small team based in Sri Lanka who have spent years working directly with the properties, guides and artisans behind every itinerary we design – the Bawa estates that require a personal introduction to visit, the tea bungalow managers who hold rooms for us months out, and the market traders and chefs who open their kitchens to our guests rather than a tour bus. That direct, current knowledge of the island is what separates a Serandia itinerary from one assembled at a desk from a supplier list. We know which route actually suits a French culinary traveller versus a Middle Eastern family, and we design accordingly rather than reshuffling the same template four different ways.
You tell us how you travel - your pace, your interests, your group and the things you want to avoid.
We respond personally, usually within 24 hours, with initial thinking and a proposed itinerary.
You tell us what works and what doesn’t. We adjust.
We handle everything - advance bookings for Bawa properties, train reservations, halal meal planning and safari lodge confirmations.
Serandia designs for French culinary travellers, European heritage visitors, Middle Eastern families and honeymooners and broadly international travellers who want the complete island. Every itinerary, regardless of market, receives the same depth of attention.
No shared coaches, no group timing. Every transfer, guide and activity is exclusively yours.
Geoffrey Bawa’s Number 11, Lunuganga, Tea Trails bungalows, observation carriage seats and halal meal planning are built into every itinerary before you confirm.
We tell you what a destination actually involves - the seasonal sea conditions in Tangalle, the Yala Block 1 closure periods, the things worth doing early and the ones not worth doing at all.
No elephant riding, no wildlife baiting. All safari, marine and wildlife experiences are arranged through certified ethical operators.
